SSCC #7 -- Rejoicing

I made this card for the Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenge #7. The challenge was to make a card to show the earth rejoicing based on the scripture "The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the oceans be glad." Psalm 97:1. I chose to use butterflies because whenever I see a butterfly there is just something about it that makes me think of life and joy. The way they fly and flap their wings, they appear to be rejoicing. I always feel so inspired when I see a butterfly.

I used paper that I have been hoarding for so long. I so love this paper and it was really comical how scared I was to cut it. Afterall, it is only paper. I was so careful to cut every piece so as not to waste any of it. The paper is Jolie Chocolat by SEI. Isn't it just beautiful? I layered it on top of Dark Chocolate cardstock. I stamped a Background Basics: Retro pattern that I thought mimiced the pattern on the butterfly in Versamark onto another strip of Dark Chocolate. It's hard to see in the picture, but if you click on it the picture enlarges. I then tied some pink sheer ribbon that I found in my stash around it. I used a tag that I think is a Sizzix die cut that was cut from white chipboard. I used a Versamagic Pixie Dust ink pad to color it pink and then stamped the sentiment "Joy" from Mega Mixed Messages with Burnt Umber. I put a pink brad into the hole and taped the prongs to the back and tied it with floss to the bow. I made the stick pin with a corsage pin and some beads. I punched the butterflies from coordinating paper and then added some adhesive pearls. The larger butterfly has glitter added around the edges.

Thank you so much for stopping by and make sure to take time to notice the earth rejoicing around you today. Have a blessed day!
