As for me and my house sign

Some friends of ours were renewing their vows with a big wedding do-over so I wanted to make a personal gift for them.  I decided to make them a sign for their home.  I started with a board about 5 1/2 x 24 inches and painted and distressed it.  I painted their name, then used my Silhouette to cut vinyl to lay over the top.  I covered the whole thing with a couple coats of poly.  It’s a good thing it had their name on it or I might have been tempted to keep it for myself.  :)

As for me and my house sign

I had just a few moments to whip together a card.  I used a silhouette shape I found here and added the “Congrats!”.  I designed the card in Photoshop and colored the bouquet to match their colors.  I had no time to pull out my “big” camera, so I snatched a quick pic with my iphone before tossing it in the envelope and heading out the door.

Congrats wedding card

I don’t know why I am such a procrastinator when it comes to card making.  Speaking of which, I have a card I need to go make right now.

Thanks for stopping by.

June Wallpapers

I just finished making my June wallpapers for my laptop and iphone and thought I would share it on my blog.  I used the Scrap Girls June Club kit, Countryside.  It is so adorable!

June is my oldest daughter’s birthday, so I featured her picture.  I just love these pictures of her with her dad.  I found this older picture of her when she was just a little girl laughing with her dad.  It is a favorite of mine.  The picture is scanned so the quality is not great (and I took it off my daugher’s Facebook page), but since I am not printing it, I think it is fine.  I used a fun preset in Lightroom to give it a vintage look.  The other picture is of her and her dad on her wedding day…Priceless.  She has grown up to be such a fine young woman that I am so incredibly proud of.

I hope you are having a great week.  School is out, so most of my creativity is focused on my home right now.  I have so many projects planned for this summer, I hope I can get them all finished.

Thanks for stopping by.

It’s June Already

I know my blog has been very quiet lately.  I have been working on some projects around the house.  Right now, I am focused on my daughter’s room.  It has needed attention for a long time.  She has been living with remnants from her older sister. I will be painting her room this weekend, then repainting most of her furniture to match the new color scheme.  I am very excited to see it all done.  I will be sure to show pictures of the finished product.

In the meantime, I thought I would share the desktop that I made for June.

June 2011I used the “Follow Your Bliss” scrapbook kit by Syndee Nuckles from Scrapgirls.com.  The calendar brush is from ScrapNFonts.   My daughter and my daughter-in-law’s birthdays are this month, so they get the special place on my laptop.  (It also helps me not to forget to make a card.)  It’s hard to believe my daughter will be 22 this year.  She does not look that old in these pictures, (or in real life for that matter).  She really hates that people still think she’s 12, and I guess I can’t blame her.

I made this for my ipad.

I will be back with a card in the near future.  I plan to post new WORDart next week, but I will be switching the release day to Thursdays.

Enjoy your day!

1 Corinthians 15:57 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am so thankful for the victory we have through Christ Jesus.  During this Easter season, we are so mindful of Jesus dying on the cross and resurrecting again that we might spend eternity in heaven with Him.  He also died that we might have victory through Him over all of our transgressions, guilt, iniquities, infirmities, afflictions…  Whatever we need, can be found in Him.

The WORDart, as well as the framed art above can be found HERE.

I apologize for the not-so-great picture.  It is just not picture taking weather around here and doesn’t look like it will be for a few more days.   I designed the “framed art” (I don’t know what else to call it) above in Photoshop.  I have had this scripture on the chalkboard in my kitchen for weeks now and it speaks to me every time I read it, so I thought I would frame it and leave it out.  I have included it in the download file if you would like to use it.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to Abby for designing a blog button for me.  You can grab it off the right side bar on my blog if you would like.  Check out her blog, she has amazing vintage creations  and lots of free downloads.  Thank you, Abby, for your kindness and friendship.  I appreciate you so much!

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Have a blessed day!

Another Baby Gift

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Adorable!

I used a 12 inch square frame and covered the mat with silk zebra fabric.  The insert picture and info was designed using Photoshop CS5 and printed it onto glossy photo paper.

The Happy Couple

Our family has yet another wedding coming up in the near future.  My oldest son is getting married January 7th.  It has been such a rewarding experience to be a part of their wedding planning and making their dreams come true.

They recently had their bridal shower.  My daughter was the coordinator and she did a fantastic job.  She asked me to make the bridal shower invites.  Here is what I made.  I created it in Photoshop.   I made their wedding invites as well (more on that in a future post.)

Here is the card I made for her shower.

The focal point is a Doodlebat from ScrapnFonts called DB Love Affair.  I die cut it with a Labels Four die.  I cut some silver metallic cardstock with the same die then cut it in half to mat the white.  I added some glitter to the hearts and some bling on the sides.

I just had to share the card my daughter made as well.  I am so proud of her.

She is quite the card maker.

I know this has been a long post but I thought I would share with you what is happening in my family (and the reason I haven’t been posting as much.)  My posts will probably be less and shorter than usual  until after the wedding.  I  have two flower girl dresses to sew and reception centerpieces to make.   I am still making Christmas gifts, so I hope to posts those.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Graduation Stuff

My sister-in-law asked me to design a graduation announcement for her college graduation and this is what I came up with.  I created it using Photoshop.  I have blurred out the personal information incase you’re wondering what all that weird smudging is. I have so much fun designing stuff like this.

Rachel Grad border 1 for blog

She also asked me to design an invitation for her and her daughter’s graduation party.  I think it’s really neat that they are both graduating—one from college, and the other from high school—and are celebrating it together.

I know it’s not a card, but I just thought I would share what I have been doing and another hobby of mine.

Thanks for stopping by.

Project 1: Completed

So I signed up to take Jessica Sprague's Photo Editing: Frame-ups and Special Effects class and this is my first completed assignment and the very first time I have used Photoshop CS4. The assignment was to add a frame and wordart to a picture. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I converted my picture to black and white and changed the frame and the word art to work with the picture. I really need to clean up the background, but I didn't have the time to do that today. All in all, I am really happy with the way it turned out.

Thanks for letting me share!
