Design Divas OBG Blog Hop

It’s the Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop today!  The day when we share what we have made with at least one thing that is older than six months.  It’s always nice to pull out the old stuff and become reacquainted.  If you are following the blog hop, you should have arrived here from Joanne’s blog Sleepy in Seattle.  If you would like to start at the beginning, you can start at Melissa’s blog Inkclinations.

For my card, I used Sew What, a House Mouse stamp.  When I first started stamping, I was so in love with the House Mouse stamps and I have so many of them that have never even seen ink.  This is one of them.  I colored it with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  The patterned paper is “old” from Guide Lines paper pack and I am using it with the “new” Royal Velvet color.   The seam ribbon was hand dyed and really is a purple color that matches nicely.  I just couldn’t capture the correct color in my photo (same with the bunny).  Don’t know what’s up with that, but I am open to any suggestions to correct the problem.  All of the supplies I used are listed below.

Design Divas Challenge Card

The March Design Divas challenge was to make a card with a reading theme.  It was hosted by Gina of Makings and Musings.  She has a wonderful blog, if you haven’t been there you should stop by and check it out. 

I chose to use this House Mouse stamp called Smarty Pants and stamped it onto Rustic Cream cardstock with Burnt Umber ink.  This little guy is into some serious reading!  I think he is so cute!  I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol (my favorite coloring medium when coloring House Mouse stamps.)  I distressed the edges and added the green clip and used foam tape to adhere it to my card. The paper is some from my stash matted onto some Bazzill cardstock and tied with some blue satin ribbon.  I sponged the edges of all my layers including the kraft card base with Colorbox Creamy Brown ink.

You Blow Me Away

Another House Mouse stamp I have had forever and not used.  I am doing quite well with my New Year’s goal of using my neglected stamps.  Of course, it helps when you have no money in the stamping budget, but it really has been fun rediscovering what I already own. 

I colored this image with Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol.  I adhered it to the card with foam tape to give it some dimension.  The paper is from My Mind’s Eye Bohemia collection.  The cardstock I used is Terracotta Tile.  I was so excited by how well it matched the paper.  The green strip is Spring Moss and I used an EK Success border punch to punch the border.  The sentiment is stamped in Terracotta Tile and the satin ribbon is Enchanted Evening.  The little blue bling in the corner is more of my clear cell phone bling colored with a B97 Copic marker.

Happy Tuesday!

I thought this stamp was adorable and was begging to be colored.  I haven’t colored a House Mouse image in a long time.  I forgot how much fun they were.  I used my Copics.  I am still working on improving my Copic skills.  I am often very intimidated by them and just reach for my dependable prismacolor pencils.  I used shimmer chalks to fill in the background.  The paper is from the DCWV Nana’s Nursery Baby Girl collection. 

Here is the inside.  I used the matching sentiment from House Mouse.  I stamped it in New Leaf ink and colored it with Prismacolor pencils.  I was afraid the Copic marker would bleed through to the back.  I added a little heart sticker to the center of the “o”.

I hope everyone is having a great week so far.  My day was crazy yesterday.  I had to take my son Malachi to his nephrologist.  We received a great report.  He is off his meds and still in full remission.  We don’t have to see her again for six months.  Praise the Lord!  He is so awesome!

This is the card I made for the pink and black swap on the Best of House Mouse Yahoo Group. It uses the stamp "Fruity Fun". The image is colored with Copic markers. I embossed the card base with the Cuttlebug, then added the patterned paper from All Dressed Up. Mousie Monday

Happy Monday everyone. I trust you are enjoying this long weekend. I know I am. I apologize for the late post, I actually slept in. I haven't done that in ages. It felt so good, but now I am behind on everything and playing catch up.

This is a card I made for the Getting to know you swap on the Best of House Mouse Yahoo group. I used the stamp "Apple Delight" and colored it with Copic markers. The pattern paper is from My Minds Eye Kaleidoscope. The cardstock is Bazzill. I added liquid applique to the smile on the apple more to cover a mistake I made coloring than anything else, but it's kind of cute. I used a clear glitter marker from American Crafts to add glitter to the brads and the applique for a little bling. The sentiment is called "A Smile" and is also House Mouse.

Mousie Monday

For my House Mouse card today, I decided to use this adorable stamp named "The Quick Fix". I stamped it on Papertrey White with Momento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Copic markers. It is definitely not my best coloring job, sorry. I used shimmer chalks on the background and cut it with rectangle nestibilities. I started the card with Papertrey Dark Chocolate cardstock as my base and the pattern papers are from the Sizzix Earth Tones pack.

School starts for us today. I can not believe the summer is already over. I have really enjoyed my summer. I have been able to spend a lot of time crafting, cardmaking and blogging. It is going to be quite a challenge to find time for everything, with 5 kids in grades K-12, laundry and housework there really isn't much time left for me. I think stamping and blogging is an important part of maintaining my sanity, so I am working on finding a routine that works for all of us. No small feat! Some days leave me feeling like this!
I love this stamp! The first time I saw it, I just knew I had to have it. I thought it would make a great coaster. I inked the stamp using Staz-On, then baked it at 300 degrees for 30 minutes. When it was cool, I colored it with Bic Mark-It markers (I love these!) and prismacolor pencils. It's the perfect coaster for a teacher, don't you think?

I have made many coasters in the past and have always had a difficult time stamping the image clearly. I always keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol next to me when I stamp on tile because I tend to have to clean it off a few times before I get it perfect. Well, I discovered a little tip. I inked my stamp, then turned it upside down and placed the tile on top and pressed down evenly. A perfect impression the first time! I was so happy!

Mousie Monday

I have been busy getting ready to start the school year and I bought this really great planner at Wal-mart. It had a plain cover, so I decided to dress it up a little bit. I chose to use one of the new House Mouse stamps called Scuttle School. It seemed so appropriate.

The patterned paper is from my stash, I am not sure, but I think it may be DCWV. I sponged all the edges in tea dye distress ink. I distressed the edges of the tag and sponged Tea Dye distress ink on it as well, then used my Dymo labeler to print "Mom's Planner". I didn't have the exact color label I wanted, so I colored it with caramel alcohol ink. I finished it off by using a flower eyelet and tying a piece of hemp thread and a pencil charm to the tag.
Here you can see the detail of the stamp. Super cute, huh? The image is colored with Copics and I matted it on Bazzill cardstock. I then punched a border with the Fiskars Diamond punch. I used turquoise and lavender spica glitter pens on the flowers to give them a little bit of sparkle. Now, I don't have to look at a boring planner cover.

Thanks for all the lovely comments and congrats on our wedding anniversary. I was so touched my them. We had a wonderful time this weekend. We really, really enjoyed the time alone together. My husband took me to P.F. Chang's for the first time. He has been there several times with his boss and has been wanting to take me. It was great! The food was so delicious and the atmosphere was really nice. We had fun shopping at the CKC convention and my husband found me some great stamps and punches. I will be sharing cards made with them soon.

This is a card I made for the Green color swap for the Best of House Mouse Yahoo Group. I used the Tin Can Showers stamp, colored with Copic markers and cut with rectangle nestibilities. I used Ranger glossy accents on the water drops, although you cannot see it in this picture, it has great dimension in real life.

A Chalked Mouse...and birds

Isn't this the cutest little image? I chalked the background and then stamped the image in Versamark and colored it with I kan dee shimmer chalks. The instructions for this technique can be found here. Super, super easy and fast! I usually color my House Mouse images darker with copic markers or prismacolor pencils, but wanted to try a pastel version. I like how simple it is, and because I used shimmer chalks it's really sparkly. I wish you could see it in the picture. The card is made with Papertrey White, Bazzill Bling and patterned paper from my stash. The image is House Mouse Helping Hand.

Papertake Christmas & Birds

The Papertake Weekly Challenge this week is to make a Christmas card. This card uses the House Mouse stamp Peppermint Delight. I just think he is so adorable. I colored him with prismacolor pencils and OMS and added some sparkle to his peppermint with the Spica clear glitter pen. The paper is from DCWV Christmas Stack.Yesterday, my children came running in the house full of excitement. "Mom, get your camera!" They had found a bird's nest. So, I grabbed my camera and shot some pictures. It was really cool because the nest is right at eye level, so they can see right into the nest. It was so much fun to see their excitement and we decided that we need to document their growth on a daily basis, so these are the first pictures.
Day 1--They are so tiny, and alot of fluff.Day 2--Their eyes are open today. The kids are really enjoying seeing the changes taking place on a daily basis.

Papertake Weekly Challenge

I finally got brave enough to try a challenge! I used the Papertake Weekly Challenge sketch for this card. It was really a lot of fun. I used my new Gruffies stamp, Bedtime Story, stamped in Palette Burnt Umber and colored with Copic markers. I cut out the circles using Spellbinders Petite Cirle Nestibilities. Paper is Papertrey White, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart and Bitty Baby Blessings PP. I inked all the edges with Colorbox Chalk Creamy Brown. The tag was made using Spellbinders ribbon tags and the sentiment is from Papertrey Paper Tray stamp set. Ribbon is Papertrey Spring Moss and brads are light yellow from Pink Hedgehog Paper Crafts.

Happy 4th!!

Happy Independence Day! I am so thankful for our freedom here in the USA. I am so proud to be an American. I know we are not perfect, but we are blessed with so much. I love House Mouse stamps! Aren't they just the cutest little creatures ever. My kids think it is so funny that I like them so much, because IRL I am scared to death of mice. I guess they are much safer on paper.

I colored this image--stamped on Papertrey White-- with Copic markers and then used my Sakura Glaze clear pen to color the bubbles. I covered the glass part of the bubble gum machine with clear Papier Glass Finish to make it look like real glass. You can't tell in the picture, but it really does look like glass. I used Bazzill cardstock and the pattern paper is from DCWV Summer Glitter stack. I used my Making Memories slot punch to thread the white twill and red gingham ribbon thru. I had so much fun making this card.
