Word Art Wednesday Psalm 71:14

Hello there and happy Wednesday!

It’s time for this week’s Word Art Wednesday verse.

Hope:

1. trust, reliance

2a. desire accompanied by expectation of or belief in fulfillment; expectation of fulfillment or success

2b. someone or something on which hopes are centered 2c. something hoped for

Continual:

1. continuing indefinitely in time without interruption 2: recurring in steady usually rapid succession

Praise:

1. to express a favorable judgment of

2. to glorify especially by the attribution of perfections

So if we were to replace these words with the definitions, it would say:

But I will trust with expectation of fulfillment without interruption, and will yet glorify your perfections more and more.

Reading the definitions and replacing them in the verse sort of changed up the dynamic of this verse for me, especially replacing the word hope with trust.  When I think of hope, I don’t really think “trust”.  I think more of some sort of expectation, but not necessarily with trust attached.  I am not even sure I thought of hope as an expectation with fulfillment attached.  Thinking about the definition of the word “hope” has just kind of stopped me in my tracks, so to speak.  God has been teaching me a lot about trust lately.  I guess it is not an easy thing to learn, because it has really been a struggle for me.  God has continually placed situations in my life where all I can do is go to Him and trust Him.  To place my hope in Him as the answer…knowing that He is a perfect God, all-knowing, all-present, always on time.
