I seem to be making a lot of signs lately. I have a few I am working on right now. I really enjoy making them. I guess it gives me a sense of accomplishment and I love that they are useful and last a long time. ;)
My parents asked me to make a sign with their family name and established year. I had such a hard time trying to decide what colors to use, in the end, I decided to just keep it neutral. I started out by staining a 5 1/2 x 24 inch board using a stain made from soaking steel wool in vinegar that I read about on the internet. This is awesome! I will definitely be doing this again. I then painted on the embellishment and words by using a stencil I made with my Silhouette and chalk paint. I sanded the whole thing down to smooth out the letters and make the embellishment a little more transparent, then put a couple of coats of poly on it. I love the way it turned out.
Thanks so much for stopping by today.
