Word Art Wednesday—John 8:32

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are enjoying your summer so far.  It seems to be going so quickly and so slow at the same time, which is a very rare feeling for me.  At times I think I can’t believe June is half over already and at other times I forget we are only in June.  I think that is because I had a head start on the projects that I normally do during the summer months and now I feel like I have more summer…very excited about more summer!

Today’s verse is one I grew up hearing a lot.  It was drilled into us to tell the truth and even though there are consequences for that, the freedom you feel from being honest is truly liberating.  My dad is one of the most honest men I know and he set such a great example for me.  I am so very thankful for my dad.

But this verse means so much more than speaking the truth.  This verse refers to our freedom in Christ when we follow the truth of His Word.  In the following verses Jesus says,

“Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” vs. 34-36

I am so thankful for the freedom that we received because Jesus died on the cross for our sins.  He did His part, but we must also do our part and follow the truth of His word.  We don’t need to live as a slave in the bondage of sin, but we have the hope of eternity with our Saviour and the freedom we feel in living for Him here on earth until He comes.  Yes, life can be hard, but with God we have a peace that passes all understanding and the strength that comes from believing in Him, knowing Him, and living for Him.

I will leave you with some summer highlights.

Strawberry picking with the family

The best part was the strawberry shortcake that followed.  I made cream scones and real whipped cream and it was so delicious.  Sorry no pics to show you of that.  I think I was halfway thru it when I realized I should have taken a picture.  I couldn’t wait to eat it…trust me, it was so good. Strawberry shortcake is my all time favorite dessert and strawberries my all time favorite fruit.  One of my favorite things of summer.

Everett

This little guy is getting so big and seeing his personality develop is so much fun.  He was so fascinated by his mom blowing bubbles with her bubblegum and he would copy her expressions exactly.  We are looking forward to his little brother coming in a couple months.

Thanks for this beautiful verse, Karen. It seems funny to hear you talk about summer. Here on Prince Edward Island we are still waiting for it to come.

Lovely pics of your kids and grandson. You must be so excited for the arrival of a new grandchild.

Blessing hugs,
Teresa
