Word Art Wednesday Galatians 5:22,23

Hello!  I hope you all are warm and cozy.  It’s a winter wonderland here.  We are “enjoying” our second storm this week and expecting another one this weekend.  I have never really been a fan of winter.  I enjoy a snow storm or two around Christmas, but then I’m done.  This winter has been an adventure for sure.  I am so thankful for God providing us a warm home; that is where I prefer to be in all of this cold and snow…looking at all that beauty out the window.

This week’s Word Art Wednesday verse is such a popular verse among Christians.  You see it everywhere it seems; it’s how the world judges us because they have an expectation of how Christians should act.

If we are filled with the Spirit of God, then we should resemble Him.  He is every one of these things.  Does that mean that we are going to be perfect like He is if we have His Spirit living inside us?  Absolutely not!  We are human, incapable of being perfect, but we strive to be like Him.  I love how the Amplified version says it, “But the fruit of the [Holy] Spirit [the work which His presence within accomplishes] is…” 

The word accomplish means: to bring to its goal or conclusion; carry out; perform; finish

We are a work in progress!  We have to come to Him daily for forgiveness, and ask Him to rule in our hearts and lives...to bring about these characters of His Spirit.  We are not able to acquire these characteristics by our thoughts or actions; they must come by His Spirit accomplishing them within us.  These fruits don’t just appear overnight, but as we empty our hearts He fills them back up.  There is nothing in our hearts worth holding onto, nothing that can compare to what He has for us when we give Him everything.  What could possibly be better than having love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance in our lives?
