Psalm 118:8 WORDart

Happy Thursday!  I can’t believe it’s August already.  I know I probably say that at the start of every new month.  It just seems like time speeds by so quickly.  Do you remember when you were a kid and time just seemed to drag?  I get annoyed with my kids sometimes when they complain about how long it takes for a certain date or event to come.  I tell them just to wait until they are older and they will realize how quickly the days pass. lol It’s so important to live in the moment.  Anyways…here is this week’s WORDart for you.  I hope you find it useful for something and that it and the following devotion by Karissa is a blessing to you today.

A fun, little song known as “It’s a small world after all” has been sung by children and adults for ages.  As silly as it is, it has proven true as many people realize they share a mutual friend or acquaintance. Whether it is through a simple conversation, Facebook or another social outlet, we realize we are all a little more connected than we thought.  Scientific studies have been done proving that any two people are connected through a chain of half a dozen or so individuals.* Maybe this is how the popular saying, “It’s not what you know, but who you know” came into being.  Many jobs are received, accomplishments or goals met, and tasks are completed with not our own knowledge, but rather the knowledge or abilities of who we know.  It is a beautiful thing when various individuals can work together and help each other out.  But, at the end of the day, we are all human.  We are flawed, imperfect beings who let each other down. We don’t always come through at the right time, say the right thing, respond or react the appropriate way.  We don’t always take immediate action and are often times clueless to the circumstances of those around us.  Yes, as followers of Christ it is something we should strive to correct, but as people we have realized that it is something we cannot expect from others.  This should not be a bitter, resentful realization, but rather a realistic one.  The saying “it’s not what you know, but who you know” is indeed true, but it goes beyond those here on earth.  No matter how much wisdom we gain through age or experience, we do not know or understand everything.  We do not know what lies around the bend of life or how to handle a situation. When we know God, and not only know Him, but place our trust in Him, we realize this is the ultimate joy and knowledge and things will and do work out because He will fight our battles.  I have learned that at an early age and God proved to my husband and I in a tremendous way when we decide to get married that, “it is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” He may shut doors or open them, He may place people in our lives or take them away, but regardless His way is the best way. He is and can be more than enough for us when we place our trust in Him.

There have been many circumstances in my life lately that have caused me to realize that the Lord is the only person I can truly depend on.  I am so thankful that I can safely put my trust in Him and feel confident that He knows what is best for me and my family even though, in my own eyes it might not look that way.

I encourage you to put your trust in Jesus.  If you are facing a situation right now that feels completely overwhelming and impossible to you, trust Jesus.  Place it in His hands and trust Him with the outcome.  He loves you and wants only the very best for you.
