Revelation 4:11 WORDart

This WORDart is a little different then what I have done in the past.  I hope you find it useful.

Please excuse the personal rant, but it’s been one of those weeks. Lack of sleep has plagued me as each night ends with tossing and turning as all sorts of thoughts crowd my mind.  Unfortunately, most of them are negative and involve worrying about one of those “life’s not fair but it is what it is” type situations.  You know the ones--issues where there should be more praying and trusting and less worrying and fearing, but still the worrying continues relentlessly.  In preparation for writing this, I read the complete chapter of Revelation 4 and was reminded of some things.  This week’s verse, verse 11, says “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou has created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created” and is beautiful in itself.  The purpose of this chapter is to tell of a revelation shown to John of God on His throne and those who worshipped Him.  In regards to this, Matthew Henry’s Commentary states “They (meaning the creatures and elders who bowed before Him) do not say, we give thee glory, and honor, and power; for what can any creature pretend to give unto God? But they say, thou art worthy to receive glory. In this they tacitly acknowledge that God is exalted far above all blessing and praise. He was worthy to receive glory, but they were not worthy to praise, nor able to do it according to his infinite excellences”. The underlined portion stands out to me because of its truth.  Regardless of Life and all of its trials and tribulations, blessings and rewards, God is worthy to receive the glory and honor and power.  He has created me, those I love and so many more precious souls.  Simply because it was His pleasure to, and every breath I am given to breathe is a chance to give Him that which He deserves.  For I do not deserve salvation, a relationship with Him or the things with which He blesses me, yet He gives them to me freely.  Scripture states, “Freely you have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8) and “Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).  Situations in life will come and go, some may never leave completely, but those are only temporary.  One glorious day we will join with the Heavens and proclaim our praise to Him for eternity but, until then, I do not want this life to prevent me from giving back to Him that which He deserves.
