Psalm 27:4 WORDart

Happy Thursday!

Today is a very special day for me.  Twenty-three years ago today, I became a mom.  I will never forget that feeling of awe and wonder when I held my baby girl for that very first time.  I knew then, in that moment, that my life had changed forever.  I remember looking at my husband, who had tears of joy running down his face, and I just knew that we were the most blessed little family in the whole, entire world.  I still feel that way.  God has been so very, very good to us.  There have been many, many things that have changed since that day.  Like every family we have experienced both the good and bad, but I wouldn’t change a thing.  I love my life and I feel very blessed to live it.

The other reason why this day is so special for me is that this same daughter that I gave birth to 23 years ago, has agreed to partner with me on my blog.  She loves to write and is a very gifted writer (definitely NOT inherited from her mom) who loves God with her whole heart and loves to use her writing for His glory.  I am so incredibly proud of the woman she has become and I am extremely excited to be able to share her writing here with you.  She will be contributing her writing while I contribute my WORDart.  I know you will be blessed.

"It is my personal opinion that the most beautiful story of all time is the story of Jesus’ crucifixion. Yes, it is gruesome, sad, horrible and evokes many other negative emotions. Still it is beautiful in that God, robed in flesh, came to earth to die for every sin that would be committed by mankind.  As He hung on the cross and His last breath was taken, the curtain which separated the Holy of Holies was ripped in half leaving an intimate place of worship exposed. Prior to this, only the Levites, who God had given the position of Priest to, had the privilege of experiencing the presence of God. Yet, God so loved the world that His blood was shed in atonement for our transgressions and an invitation was extended for a deeper level of communion with all people. The knowledge of this puts me in awe. To know that I, a Gentile, have been given this privilege is humbling.  Accepting the privilege and knowing what it is to be in the presence of God, to experience His beauty, to hear His voice, to reach out and not just know, but to feel Him reaching in return is a breathtaking honor. When you have been there, it is easy to understand the desire of David’s heart as he penned the words “one thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple.” Yet, the longing you hear in these words causes me to pause. David wrote this in a time when he did not have the privilege we have, he had not experienced the beauty of God in the way we are able. Though he was an anointed king, a victorious leader and considered a man after God’s own heart, his position did not allow him access into the Holy of Holies. Still, he desired and longed for more of the Lord. David knew the Lord was his refuge, light and salvation.  No matter who forsook him, no matter which enemies came against him, no matter the success or riches of life, nothing mattered more to him than to be in the house of the Lord. May we, who have this awesome opportunity, strive to not take it for granted but hold tight to the desire of dwelling in the house of the Lord all the days of our life."

Such a blessing both of you are to me today! Beautiful word art Karen! You do have a gift with putting things into words Karissa! I don't have that ability myself and it's so wonderful to hear your words glorify the Lord Jesus and the desire to dwell with him!

I am so glad to see the WordArt you are sharing with us but I'm even more delighted to read on what you have written about the Lord Jesus. I am deeply touched because thinking about His death on the Cross brings me back to the day when He saved me from all my shame. He is indeed awesome in every way and in His resurrection, He gave us all the things we lost and not only that but He made us the righteousness of God. (Romans 1:16-17)...Praying that you will be used by God mightily in everything you do. Hugs!
