A Froggy Birthday

I just realized I forgot to post to my blog today!

My son’s birthday was last week.  He LOVES frogs and always requests a frog card for his birthday.  It is getting to be quite a challenge to find different frogs every year.  I used Papertrey’s Pond Life to make this card.

I started with a base of Spring Rain and impressed it with the Sunshine impression plate inked with Versamark.  I cut a piece of white cardstock to fit in the center and then sponged Spring Rain ink over it and along the edges.  I stamped the images in Spring Moss, Shabby Shutters, Peeled Paint, and Faded Jeans ink.  I adhered this center piece to the card with foam tape to give it dimension.  To add texture to the frog, I embossed it with clear embossing powder and overheated the powder until it bubbled up.  It almost looks like gross, scaly frog skin.  Ewwww, I really, really dislike frogs to the point where I have been known to scream when I see one.  Unfortunately, my kids get a big kick out of that and use every opportunity to catch me off guard.  Let’s just say, that I have seen all the real frogs I ever want to see.

For the inside,  I stamped the frogs as if they were hopping across the card.

Beautiful! Even if it is a frog :-) I'd love to see a demo or hear more about how you use Versamark and the impression plates. When I've tried inking Cuddlebug folders, it just ends up a mess.

Very nice Karen. How fun to try and find new images every year for his card. The frog "skin" looks great.
