Summer…and vinyl

It’s summer, and in the Murray household that means getting doing everything I don’t find the time to do during the school year.  I have been busy decluttering, reorganizing, rearranging and redecorating.  The work is hard, but I am loving the results and I thought I would share some of the what I have been up to so you don’t think I have fallen off the face of the earth.

I LOVE my Cricut and cutting vinyl and all the fun stuff that I can do with it.  I have been wanting to add some sayings to my walls for such a long time and decided this was the summer I was going to make it happen.  This is what I’ve done.

My family room.

I added this saying above the pictures.  I absolutely love this saying (scripture).  What more could a mom ask for than to have all her children walk in truth!  I updated all my pictures and converted them to black and white using my new software Lightroom.  I have been teaching myself how to use Lightroom this summer, and I really adore this program.  I realize all you can see in the pictures is reflections, sorry about that.

This is actually the same room, but the lighting is different, so funny.  I added the vinyl around our wedding picture.  I can’t believe we will be celebrating our 22nd anniversary this Thursday!  I guess I need to get busy and make my hubby a card.

My craft room.

I love this saying and knew I had to have it in my craft room.  Stamping vs. cleaning, which one would you choose?  I need to figure out a way to have the best of both worlds.

I love this saying, too.  I thought it was so appropriate for my craft room as it really is those little details that make a project a WOW project.

And last but not least, my bathroom.

A reminder to smile!

I have one more saying that I put up in my kitchen, but the vinyl that I used is so light that it doesn’t show up on my wall.  So disappointing…so I need to do it over…someday.

It is time for me to change modes and gear up for the school year.  I have schedules to make and lesson plans to prepare and the school room still needs to be decluttered and reorganized.  I am really dreading that project, but I know the results will make it all worthwhile…and it is a necessary thing for a successful school year.

I will try not to be MIA so long this time.  I hope to be back to my regular posting schedule and have some new WORDart in September.  Til then I will check in every so often to share what I’ve been up to.  Thanks for being patient with me.

I'm speechless. Your work with the Cricut is so great. You have such great vision and taste. I think you could make that into a business, Karen. Fabulous work. Wish I could see it in person.

I just wanted to comment about your wedding picture...I got married in 1987 and wore a hat too. I guess hats were big in the 80's. I just knew I would probably end up with a bad hair day on my wedding day so I figured, if I wore a hat, no one would know. LOL. Thanks for sharing these pics. <<>>

I love these, been wanting to do something similar in my living room - but I was going to buy them. Did you do this with the standard cricuit or something else?? And where did you get your vinyl?

Thanks for updating us, Karen--I was just wondering if everything was okay with you and a couple of other Pixies yesterday. It looks like you've been putting your time to good use with those gorgeous signs! Good luck prepping for the new school year and "see" you when you pop in!

Karen, I have been working on vinyl projects in my house this summer also! I love the way yours turned out! By chance do you have the file for the "I have no greater joy" quote? It is beautiful!

Karen, I love the way your walls turned out!! I bought the saying "Where life begins... and love never end Family". I put framed photos of my 5 children around it and I get so many compliments on it! I think what you did with your cricut is amazing!

I just found you via Pinterest and love some of your ideas on here! Can you tell me how you have the pictures hanging from the rod? Is that a curtain rod? How is it on the wall? Thanks so much!!

Michelle, it is a curtain rod! It is hung with hooks that I purchased at Pier One (not sure if they still sell them, but you could find something similar). I just stapled ribbon to the back of my frames and tied them to the rod. That way they are easy to take down and change out the pictures.

I am curious where you got the heart hooks for your beautiful photo idea in the top picture?
