What NOT to do with Shimmerz

I have been playing with my Shimmerz some more, trying to figure out if I could get them to photograph better. I thought maybe if I applied more to the surface they would show up better in a photo. Wrong answer! You can see in my picture how the leaves and the pumpkins are white. I thought Angel Wings was clear, turns out if you use a lot, it's white.
So, I unstuck the leaves and made new ones, just added a light touch of Rustic Red and then added a little Rustic Red to my pumpkins to try to salvage them. It's better, but definitely not perfect. I guess I will be using less of my Shimmerz (amount that is, not frequency. I still love them.) I think I need to take a photography class.
Stuff I used: Stamps: Pumpkin Patch Riley (Hanna Stamps); Paper: Papertrey White, Dark Chocolate, pattern paper (unknown); Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black; Accessories: circle classic and petite scalloped circle nestibilities, EK Success leaf punch, Martha Stewart scallop dot border punch, prismacolor pencils and goo gone, Cool Gray No. 1 copic marker, Shimmerz, Papertrey pure poppy twill ribbon

Have a blessed day!

Pink and Lacey

This is a card I made for my Grandmother's birthday. I took the SCS technique challenge and made a pink sparkly card. The stamp is Papertrey Flower Garden. I stamped the flower in Sweet Blush and the stem in Ripe Avocado. I then used Shimmerz Angel Wings paint to color over the flower and stem and Beeswax to color the flower center. The sentiment is from Papertrey Birthday Basics.

As a side note, you can enter to win Shimmerz blog candy here. I am just totally in love with this stuff. It is so easy to use, fast drying and really adds a nice shimmer to anything you use it on. I have a very difficult time taking pictures that showcase that shimmer, however; it is stunning in real life.

Back to the card, the paper is from sugared 6 x6 paper pad by Basic Grey. The card base is Papertrey Ripe Avocado. I distressed the edges of the mat and sponged them with the Versamagic Pink Petunia inkpad. The border punch I used is Martha Stewart doily, and the flowers are silk flowers. I love to buy silk flowers and pull them apart and use them on my cards. The pearl brad is from Michaels brides wedding collection. The lace is from Offray.

I have added the followers gadget to my left sidebar. This is such a great tool. It lets you read a blog right from your Blogger dashboard. I would be honored if you chose to become a follower.

Have a blessed day!

Reflections

Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.

I just wanted to share something on my heart today. I can not get this song out of my head. I am just in awe that I have a relationship with a God who loves me and cares so much about me, about what is happening with me in my life, right here, right now. That the same God who created the world, who hung the stars and breathed life into man, knows my name and cares about my hurts, my dreams... ME! In the uncertainty of the world today, I am extremely thankful to know that I don't have to worry about tomorrow, because I am His! I belong to Him and He cares and He knows what tomorrow holds. I can have that assurance that everything is gonna be ok, that no matter what happens, I am His child and He is my Father. He will be there to hear me when I call, to catch me when I fall. I am His! What an awesome, awesome God!!

If you would like to listen to this song, this video is amazing.

I pray that you have a blessed day and that you feel the love of God in your life today.

Autumn Polka Dots

The challenge this month for the Papertrey Blog Hop was to use polka dots. I love polka dots and had a lot of fun making this card. I wanted to make something "bigger and badder", but only had time to make one card. This card uses Polka Dot Basics, My Punny Valentine and Mailbox Greetings. I used Papertrey White, Kraft, Pure Poppy and Ripe Avocado cardstock. The ribbon is Papertrey Pure Poppy, of course, the best red on the market. Love it! I used the Autumn Leaves kaleidacolor inkpad to ink up the polka dots and the leaves. The squirrel is stamped with Palette charcoal ink and then I highlighted some of the areas with Copic Cool Gray #3 and #5 markers. I also outlined the leaves with a stardust pen, but it doesn't show up in the picture at all. :( It's super sparkly in real life. The sentiment is from some stamps I found at JoAnn's. They are from The Paper Company. The leaf brad is from my stash. I am not sure exactly where I bought it, but I am thinking the Oriental Trading Co.

Thanks for looking. Have a blessed day!

Autumn Blessings

I gave the sketch challenge over at splitcoaststampers a try. This card is not on my favorites list, but I thought I would share anyway.

I used the Harvest Mouse image from Great Impressions. I colored the stamped image with Prismacolor pencils and OMS, then went over the pumpkin with Beeswax Shimmerz paint. I am really loving this stuff. It is so much fun. The background is Papertrey Spring Moss cardstock with leaves from an unknown stamp collection stamped in Versamark.

Supplies I used-Stamps: Harvest Mouse (Great Impressions), sentiment (The Paper Co. Autumn Stamp kit), leaves (unknown); Paper: Papertrey White, Spring Moss, Ocean Tides, Summer Sunrise, pattern paper (unknown); Ink: Momento Black Tuxedo, Versamark, Colorbox Chalk creamy brown, Papertrey Ocean Tides; Accessories: leaf brad, leaf buttons, twine, nestibilities (circle and petite circle), ribbon (Target dollar spot)

Fall Shimmerz

I recently purchased a few of those Shimmerz paints that everyone is raving about. I have to tell you it is worth raving about. This stuff is so easy to work with and has an amazing shimmer that really adds to anything you put it on. I will definitely be purchasing more!

I used it on the leaves in the image and also on the leaf I punched out of designer paper. The designer paper was a golden brown color and I painted Sagebrush green over it. I really like the color effect it made. This picture does not even begin to show how shimmery it is in real life. It is so pretty! I had a difficult time taking a picture that shows how glimmery it is.

The image stamp is Fun in the Fall by Great Impressions, the sentiment is Simple Things, also by Great Impressions. The sentiment is stamped on Papertrey white cut with Nestibilities Double Ended tags. The pattern paper is K & Company Fall Harvest Mat pad. I punched the leaf with my EK Success maple leaf punch, and the branches are a Martha Stewart punch. I used Papertrey Kraft for my card base and sponged Colorbox Chalk Chestnut Roan along all the edges. I also inked the edges of my pattern papers. The ribbon is from Target's dollar spot and the leaf brad is from my stash.

I purchased both my Shimmerz paints and my stamps from RK Stamps. They have a great selection and terrific service!

Have a blessed weekend!

An Autumn Thankyou

My husband asked me to make him a masculine thank you card. So, I thought it would be fun to use this cute little owl from Unity Stamps July kit of the month. I paper pieced it and adhered it to my card with foam tape. The background is also a stamp from this set. I stamped it in Versamark on Papertrey's Dark Chocolate cardstock. I made the branch with Papertrey's Take a Bough set and stamped the leaves with my Autumn Leaves kaleidacolor inkpad. The sentiment is from Papertrey's Out On a Limb set. (Link is to the revised set, the sentiment on my card is from the original set.) The ribbon is from Target's dollar spot.
This is the inside of my card. I used the same pattern paper that I used for my owl on the front and stamped a portion of my branch stamp and leaves. I also distressed the edges just a little bit and sponged them with Antique Linen distress ink.
Supplies I used: Stamps-owl, tree background (Unity Stamps July Kit of the Month), branch and leaves (Papertrey Take a Bough), sentiment (Papertrey Out on a Limb, original version); Paper-Papertrey Kraft, Dark Chocolate, pattern paper (unknown); Ink-Palette Burnt Umber, Autumn Leaves Kaleidacolor, Antique Linen distress ink; Accessories-ribbon (Target dollar spot), Heidi Swapp distresser, foam tape

Riley Birthday

Another birthday card! This one is for my nephew, Caleb. I used Car Riley from Hanna Stamps and Nana's Kids paper from DCWV. I wanted to tone down the paper just a tad, so I lightly sanded it and distressed the edges just a bit. Riley is colored with Copic markers (see picture below for markers used). I used shimmer chalks to add some color to the background. The card base and mat is Papertrey Pure Poppy cardstock. The ribbon is Papertrey Pure Poppy stitched grosgrain and American Crafts. I colored the photo turn with a Copic marker to match. You can't tell in the picture, but I used a Spica clear glitter marker to color in the "chrome" parts of the car.
Copic markers used 0, C-1, C-3, C-7, B23, B32, R02, R29, E21, E35, E47
Supplies used: Stamps-Car Riley (Hanna Stamps); Paper-Papertrey White, Pure Poppy, DCWV Nana's Kids; Ink-Momento Tuxedo Black; Accessories-sanding block, Pebbles shimmer chalks, star paper clips (Staples), photo turn, brad, Copic markers, Spica clear glitter marker, ribbon (Papertrey, American Crafts)

Cuttlebug Anniversary

I love making Cuttlebug cards! They are so quick and easy to make. Here I used the paisley and swiss dot folders. I scored an interval between the two folders with the Scor-pal the width of the ribbon I was using. I threaded Pure Poppy satin ribbon through a heart charm I found at Walmart and stamped my sentiment from Wedding Day with Palette Noir ink. I wrapped the ribbon around the front of the card and secured it on the back with glue dots. I then matted it on to Pure Poppy cardstock and I adhered this to my card base, and I was done.

I made this card for my brother and sister-in-law who just celebrated their anniversary. I love how easy it is to change up the color. This is a beautiful and simple card that can literally be made in minutes.

Have a blessed day!
