Crazy Twins Birthday

My husband and his brother celebrated their birthday Saturday. My nieces made them these really crazy hats. It was hilarious and I had to capture the moment. My brother-in-law took us all out to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was a really nice evening. It would have been so much nicer if I hadn't had a mega headache, but it was still a great evening with some really great memories.
This is the card I made for my husband. Anyone that knows him knows he LOVES bubble gum, so I made him this gumball machine card. I used the JustRite stamper to make the sentiment. I colored the image with Copic markers and then used a glaze pen to color over the gumballs to give them some shine and dimension. I also used the clear Spica glitter pen to highlight the metal parts of the gumball machine and to color over the staples to give them some texture.
This is the inside. I wanted to be able to write something without it showing in the front, so I folded a piece of cardstock and used the Making Memories semi-circle slot tool to make a closure tab. Now, I had the room to write and the message was private!

Supplies I used-Stamps: Sweet Tooth(Inkadinkado), the Paper Studio , JustRite Stamper; Paper: DCVW Nana's Kids, Papertrey pure poppy, white; Ink: Papertrey Pure Poppy, Versamagic Chalk Key Lime, Colorbox Chalk French Blue, Momento Tuxedo Black; Accessories: circle and rectangle nestibilities, Copic markers, Scrappers Floss, MM slot tool, Sakura clear glaze pen, clear Spica glitter marker, fastenater and staples, edge distresser

Explanation for slacking

Announcing the engagement of my daughter Karissa. I know I have not been a very good blogger, but I have been extremely busy. I am really enjoying spending this time with my daughter. We have been wedding dress shopping and she found the wedding gown of her dreams. She looked so beautiful in it and I felt extremely old. She has asked me to make her wedding invitations and programs, so I have been spending a lot of time on the web shopping for the right paper and getting ideas. I think we have decided on what she wants, so all I have to do is find the right materials and the time to make them all. I feel very honored that she would ask me to make them for her. I think that is just the biggest compliment ever. I have a feeling the next few months will be very busy for me. I will try to find some stolen moments of creativity and a few more stolen moments to keep you all posted. Thanks for understanding.

Have a blessed day!

Give Thanks

I got this adorable stamp from Great Impressions the other day. Isn't it so cute? I used this card to fulfill two challenge requirements. One for the SCS sketch challenge and also for the Papertake Weekly Challenge, which was to make a fall theme card.

I started with a base of Papertrey Dark Chocolate that I stamped leaf images on with Versamark. I am not sure of the stamp manufacturer. I cut a strip of pattern paper and inked the edges. I used a ribbon punch to make slits for the ribbon and threaded the ribbon through the inside of the card and then tied it off with hemp thread.

I colored the image with copic markers. (Markers shown below.) I then used shimmer chalks to color the background. I also went over the pumpkin with orange chalk to add some shimmer.

I cut the image with rectangle nestibilities and then cut the mat as well. I adhered the image to my card base with mounting tape to give it dimension. I punched a circle, stamped the sentiment and the leaf, inked the edges and added a brad. I used a double layer of mounting tape to adhere the tag to my card.
Copics used B00, B23, YR31, YR23, E31, E33, E37, BG93, BG96, C1, 0

Supplies: Stamps-Harvest Mouse (GI), sentiment (Papertrey Limitless Labels), Thanksgiving (MSE), leaf stamps (unknown); Ink-Versamagic Aegean Blue, Tea leaves, Colorbox Chalk Chestnut Roan, Momento Tuxedo Black, Versamark; Paper-Papertrey White, Dk Chocolate, K & Co Fall Harvest Mat pad, Bazzill (green); Accessories-ribbon (Offray), shimmer chalks, brad, hemp thread, classic rectangle nestibilities

Verve Challenge Cards

Here are the cards I made using the OSW Challenge on the Verve forum. The challenge was to use 6X6 in double sided paper and make 4 cards. The layout for the cards and the cuts for the paper were provided, so all I had to think about was what paper and stamps I would use. I used K & Co Classic K Bailey paper and all sentiments are from Verve Stamps. Super simple and so much fun.

Supplies: Stamps-sentiments (Verve),flourish on card 1(Studio G); Paper-Papertrey Spring Moss, K & Co. Classic K Bailey, Papertrey White; Ink-Palette Haystack, Ballet Blue; Accessories- Papertrey Spring Moss satin ribbon, cream ribbon (Offray), prima flower, adhesive pearl

TAC Tuesday and a birthday!

Happy Birthday, Micah!! I can't believe he is already 12! It seems like just yesterday we were planning for his arrival. Time flies so quickly. Here he is with his cake of choice. It seems to be everyone's favorite in our house.
Here is the card I made for him. It uses Cars from The Angel Company. I made the card base with Papertrey White. I punched a scalloped oval and used it as a mask to chalk the sky, then chalked green for the grass. I handcut the road and used a white Souffle pen to make the road markings. I stamped the car on red metallic cardstock. I don't know who the manufacturer is. I have had it for ages and threw the packaging away. I also used this for the banner. I just cut a rectangle then used a square punch on the diagonal to cut the end. I stamped the sentiment and added the brad. The banner and the car are popped up on dimensionals. Supplies: Stamps-Cars, Sentiments (The Angel Company); Ink-Black Staz-On; Paper-red metallic, Papertrey White, Black Bazzill; Accessories-White Souffle pen, black brad, shimmer chalks (Pebbles)

Just a quick card today. I haven't had a whole lot of crafting time, but managed to throw this together the other day.

The base is Papertrey Spring Moss. I stamped the bird image in Landscape, then stamped it on Curious Shimmer White in Cote d'Azure and cut out the bird. I adhered it with mounting tape to give it dimension. I traced the leaves and the white on the bird with a clear stardust pen. It gives it lots of shimmer IRL.

I added a strip of DCWV All Dressed Up on the bottom and tied some ribbon from my stash around it. The buttons are from my stash and glued together after threading hemp string through the top one.

Supplies: Stamp-Birds Galore (Inkadinkado); Paper-Papertrey Spring Moss, Curious White, DCWV All Dressed Up matstack; Ink-Palette Landscape, Cote d'Azure; Accessories-buttons, ribbon, hemp string, Sakura Gelly Roll clear stardust pen

September Wallpapers

I cannot believe it is September already. It came so quickly I was late making the September wallpapers. I was finally able to complete them yesterday and thought I would share. I used graphics from the Destinations Page Pak by Cottage Arts for my husband's laptop. I like to feature the birthdays of the month and this month our son, Micah, and my husband and his twin have a birthday.
For mine, I used graphics from "The Foyer" and "The Foyer Add-On Paper Pack" by Jennifer Schmitt which can be found here. The calendar is a brush by Leora Sanford at Little Dreamer Designs. I'm sorry I could not find a direct link.
Thanks for looking and have a blessed day!

TAC Tuesday

My husband's admin is having a birthday this weekend. She is a horse lover and owns several horses so I thought I would use the "Happy Trails" set by The Angel Company to make her a card.

I started with Papertrey Dark Chocolate cardstock as my base, added a layer of Bazzill stamped in Burnt Umber with the fine houndstooth scrapblock. I stamped the vintage ledger scrapblock with Vintage Sepia on curious poison ivory and then stamped the horse image on top. I sponged the edges with Burnt Umber ink and wrinkled them up a little to distress them. I punched the file tab and sponged the edges, then stamped the sentiment with Burnt Umber. I used the Bind-it-all to punch the side, then cut slits and "roughed" them up with a stylus for a torn look, although it doesn't show very well in the picture.
For the inside, I stamped the vintage ledger scrapblock in Burnt Umber stamped off once. The sentiment is from the Papertrey Birthday Basics set. I punched the bottom of the cardstock with the Fiskars diamond border punch.

Supplies:
Stamps-Happy Trails (TAC), Birthday Basics (PTI), Fine Houndstooth, Vintage Ledger Scrapblocks (CHF)
Paper-PTI Dark Chocolate, Bazzill, Curious Poison Ivory
Ink-Palette Burnt Umber, Antique Linen Distress ink, Versafine Vintage Sepia
Accessories- Fiskars diamond border punch, file tab punch (McGill), Bind-it-all, eyelets, spiral clip, brad, ribbon

Have a blessed day!

Mousie Monday

Happy Monday everyone. I trust you are enjoying this long weekend. I know I am. I apologize for the late post, I actually slept in. I haven't done that in ages. It felt so good, but now I am behind on everything and playing catch up.

This is a card I made for the Getting to know you swap on the Best of House Mouse Yahoo group. I used the stamp "Apple Delight" and colored it with Copic markers. The pattern paper is from My Minds Eye Kaleidoscope. The cardstock is Bazzill. I added liquid applique to the smile on the apple more to cover a mistake I made coloring than anything else, but it's kind of cute. I used a clear glitter marker from American Crafts to add glitter to the brads and the applique for a little bling. The sentiment is called "A Smile" and is also House Mouse.

Have a blessed day. I'll be back tomorrow for TAC Tuesday.

Supplies: Stamps-Apple Delight, A Smile; Paper-PTI White, Bazzill, MME Kaleidoscope; Ink-Palette Beaux Arts Blue, Momento Tuxedo Black; Accessories-Copics, white liquid applique, pure glitter glitter marker(American Crafts), brads, ribbon
