KLM Designs: Pumpkin Patch

Another Autumn image from KLM Designs. This is called Pumpkin Patch and will be available tomorrow, Sept 1st. I colored it with prismacolor pencils and OMS and then highlighted the background with some chalk and added the cute little leaf mini brads to the top corners. I stamped the Kraft cardstock with Polka Dot Basics II in Champagne Versamark ink and embossed with Transcendence powder. The BEST clear embossing powder on the market in my opinion. The patterned paper is from me & my big ideas. I punched some DCWV cardstock that I found in my scrap pile with the Fiskars upper crest border punch and then punched the leaves with a mini leaf punch from Fiskars. I inked all the edges with Colorbox Chalk Creamy Brown. I tied some buttons from my stash onto some brown twine and adhered it with glue dots. My 6 year old daughter loves to craft with me and here is her version. I think she did a pretty good job.

KLM Designs: Apple Globe

Let me just start by saying, that I have not had this much trouble with a card in a very long time. I had great visions for this image and nothing turned out the way I pictured it in my head. So...after tossing the first two cards, I decided to settle for this one, still not completely happy with it. Don't you just hate it when you can't make what's in your head work on paper? Very frustrating! Anyways, this is a great image. It comes with the base and globe separate as well as together like I used here. So lots of options. The base comes plain and I decided to add the sentiment that comes with it to the base (great paper piecing possibilities here). I colored it with prismacolor pencils and OMS and then added Stardust Stickles to the globe. Here is where it got dicey. The first one I added Paper Glass to the globe and it was supposed to look like glass when it dried, but it dried yellow and my paper warped badly. I chose to stick with the Stickles. I embossed the Bazzill paper with a CB embossing folder and adhered it to my Olive cardstock. A strip of Autumn Abundance pp and some burlap ribbon I died with Fired Brick Distress Ink finished it off. Oh yeah, and those cute little leaf brads I got from Oriental Trading several years ago. In the end, I guess it turned out ok. Life would be so boring without a few challenges, right? This image will be available at KLM Designs on September 1st along with the other great images that are being released that day.

KLM Designs: Americana Apple

September 1st is New Release Day at KLM Designs. This Americana Apple is one of the images that will be released. I colored it with Prismacolor pencils and OMS and then went over the whole thing with Antique Linen distress ink to give it that vintage look. I really love how this softened the white. I then used Stardust Stickles to give the stars some glimmer. I stamped the flourish from Fancy Flourishes in Enchanted Evening ink. The Scarlet Jewel cardstock was punched with the star Tonic boot punch and then with an EK Success border punch. I added some star bling inside of the star punch outs. The border and the apple were both adhered to the card with foam tape to give them a little dimension.

Love & Laughter Anniversary

Happy Saturday! I am so glad for the weekend, even tho I am spending most of the day cleaning my poor neglected house. It has been such a busy week with VBS every day and getting ready to start school on Monday. I'm afraid I haven't had much time for blogging or internet time. I am really looking forward to getting back into our routine.

This card I made for a special couple. I woke up one morning totally inspired by Melon Berry and Dark Chocolate. I guess I must have been dreaming about it:). I started with Dark Chocolate cardstock as my base and stamped the large damask stamp from Damask Designs in Versamark. I then matted a strip of Melon Berry Green Tea Leaves paper to Spring Moss cardstock and adhered it to the left side of my card. I stamped the tree from Love & Laughter and the sentiment from Damask Designs onto Melon Berry cardstock in Burnt Umber ink making sure to leave enough room to tie my Spring Moss satin ribbon. I cut both the image and the mat with rectangle nestibilities. I tied the Spring Moss ribbon around the cardstock and matted it to Spring Moss cardstock. I then adhered the image to my base with foam tape.
On the inside, I stamped the same tree image in Versamark onto Melon Berry cardstock and the sentiment from the set is stamped in Burnt Umber. I added a strip of the same Melon Berry Green Tea Leaves paper that I used on the front and used a ruler and a brown pen to draw lines. I love how simple this card is and the way these colors work together.

Krafty Silhouette

I made this card for SCS Clean and Simple challenge (to use bling) and Christian Paper Crafts color challenge (kraft, black and red) that was last Monday. It just took me a while to get it photographed and posted. Better late than never, right? I used Papertrey kraft cardstock and rounded the edges with my corner rounder. I stamped the images from Papertrey Life stamp set in True Black ink. I used my second smallest Label One die to emboss the area where I wanted to stamp my sentiment and stamped the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink. I added some bling to the sides of the sentiment on top of the embossing. I really love these colors together. It's just so classy.

Friends are Flowers

This is a card that I made for the Designing D.I.V.A.S. Secret Sister challenge. The challenge was to use flowers on a card, actually I think it was to use as many flowers as possible. I am just so not good at using a lot of embellishments. I admire the cards with lots of flowers and embellies, but when I do it I just think it looks all wrong. So I used Basic Grey Sultry for my flowers, and added some ribbon and a butterfly accented with pearls. I embossed the pink paper with the Cuttlebug swiss dot folder and matted it onto Raspberry Fizz, then matted the whole thing onto Papertrey white cardstock. I used the arch lattice punch to make a border on the patterned paper. The sentiment is from the Garden of Life set by Papertrey and is stamped in Raspberry Fizz ink. I used Raspberry Fizz swiss dot ribbon tied in a bow with a white vintage button tied with floss to finish my card. I see in the photo that I created something on the inside as well, but for the life of me I cannot remember what I did and I didn't take a picture of the inside. Shame on me. Thanks for stopping by.

To the Moon Anniversary

I apologize, my short sabbatical turned out to be much longer than I had planned. Sometimes life takes a different turn than we expect, but wouldn't it be so boring if life was always predictable? I am just so thankful that when I go through a storm, I do not have to go through it alone. I know that God is always there right beside me. It amazes me how when we go through rough times it feels like we are so weak, but when we look back we somehow feel stronger when it is over.

My husband and I's 21st anniversary came and went during the time my son was sick and we finally found the time to celebrate last week. I made him this card for our anniversary. I really wanted to use my new Everyday Button Bits set and so I figured out a way to make it romantic.
I used Enchanted Evening cardstock and lightly rubbed Spring Rain and New Canvas inks over it in a circular motion. I love how it made the cardstock look like distressed leather. When you touch it, you expect it to feel soft like suede. I have just discovered this little technique and love the look. You can get a different effect depending on the cardstock and inks you use. I used the sentiment from Out on a Limb and stamped the moon in the corner with Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder. You can't really tell in the photo but I used my SU color spritzer with a light blue Copic marker and spritzed some color over the main image. It gave it like a cloudy "sky" feel. I stamped "Happy Anniversary" on bitty box paper and adhered it to the inside -- sorry, no photo. I just love the way this card turned out (so much so that I managed to keep it on my shelf in my craft room:)

KLM Designs Release Day

Today is another release at KLM Designs. There are five new images being released today, but if you haven't been there recently there are a lot of new images. You can even download a few freebies to try them out for yourself. I have a lot of cards to share today. I don't usually share them all on the same day, but I am still playing catch up from my time in the hospital with my son. I hope I don't bore you.

This is the Fuschia image. I started with Kraft paper and rubbed my New Canvas stamp pad directly all over the paper. Love the softened look! The image is printed on Gina K 80 lb. cardstock. I find this paper works the best in my printer and works fabulously with Copic markers or prismacolor pencils and OMS. The image is colored with Copic Markers.

Isn't this little turtle so cute? I colored him with Copic markers, then dusted some brown shimmer chalk to "ground" him (or her). I guess with the way I colored it, it looks like a her. I stamped a fern backgrounder onto Plum Pudding with Plum Pudding ink, but it doesn't really show up well in the photo.

This image is called Swinging Girl and I colored her with prismacolor pencils and OMS. I added some Blingz to the flowers for that little added punch. Once again started with Kraft and lightly sponged the edges with Fresh Snow ink.

This image is Rosebud. I attempted to try something different. I am not really sure I got the look I was going for. I traced the image onto vellum with a stylus while the image was on a foam mat. I then colored it in with a white pencil to deepen the impression and colored it with Tombow markers all on the back of the image. On the front I painted over the image with Angel Wings Shimmerz.

This last card is the Village Cottage image. When I saw the image, I immediately saw a school house so I used my Just Rite small alphabet and stamped the word "School" over the door. I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and OMS. I highlighted all of the trees with Spica glitter pens. It looks great in person, but hardly shows at all in the photo.

KLM Designs offers three sentiments with each of their images which is such a great value. I find that I make most of my cards without sentiments so that I can use them for any occasion. Once I decide what I am going to use the card for, I can easily print out the sentiment and add it to the inside of my card. It is such a nice way to finish off the inside of a card.

I want to thank all of you for your prayers for my son. He is doing so much better. He just needs to regain his strength, he is very weak right now. I know without the prayers of many he would not being doing as well as he is. I give God all the glory for how far he has come. A week ago, his kidneys were barely functioning and they were talking of putting him on dialysis. Today, his kidneys are functioning at almost 100%! God is so good!
