Matthew 7:7 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

This is such a common scripture, but one that I tend to forget.  I forget that if I ask, it will be given to me; if I seek, I will find and if I knock, it will be opened.  I so often get all worked up and stressed out about a situation forgetting that I do not have to handle it alone.  I don’t need to come up with all the solutions, God is just waiting for me to ask, seek and knock.  I know that that does not mean that everything will always go my way, but His ways are above mine and I can trust Him because He knows what is best for me.

I printed the WORDart onto white cardstock and die cut it with the long rectangles die.  I adhered it to pure poppy cardstock and cut around it. The corners are stamped using Modern Basics in true black ink.  I then adhered the WORDart using foam tape.

Have a blessed day!

Design Divas OBG Blog Hop

Design Divas Blog Hop Badge

It’s the Oldies But Goodies Blog Hop today!  The day when we share what we have made with at least one thing that is older than six months.  It’s always nice to pull out the old stuff and become reacquainted.  If you are following the blog hop, you should have arrived here from Joanne’s blog Sleepy in Seattle.  If you would like to start at the beginning, you can start at Melissa’s blog Inkclinations.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFor my card, I used Sew What, a House Mouse stamp.  When I first started stamping, I was so in love with the House Mouse stamps and I have so many of them that have never even seen ink.  This is one of them.  I colored it with prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  The patterned paper is “old” from Guide Lines paper pack and I am using it with the “new” Royal Velvet color.   The seam ribbon was hand dyed and really is a purple color that matches nicely.  I just couldn’t capture the correct color in my photo (same with the bunny).  Don’t know what’s up with that, but I am open to any suggestions to correct the problem.  All of the supplies I used are listed below.

The next stop on the blog hop is Mary’s blog, Sparkly Train.

Have a fabulous day!

~Karen

Psalm 91:2 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

In all the craziness and turmoil of the world right now, isn’t it wonderful to know that God is our refuge?  That He is our fortress and that we can trust in Him!  We don’t need to be afraid or wonder what tomorrow may bring when He is our Lord and we are trusting in Him.  I am safe in Him!

You can download this WORDart here if you would like to use it.

The card~

I ran my kraft card base through the Cuttlebug using the woodgrain impression plate inked up with Versamark ink.  The WORDart and the mat were die cut using Labels Two Spellbinders dies.  I stamped the leaves from Turning a New Leaf in Stormy Sky distress ink.  The red textured cardstock is die cut with the Jar Label die.  I wrapped some rustic  jute button twine around it before adding the button tied with Enchanted Evening baker’s twine.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a blessed day!

Psalm 91:1 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“He that dwelleth in the secret place”  When I think of a secret place, I think of something close and intimate.  Secrets are shared with the closest of friends that you can trust.  “To dwell” is a verb that means “to live or stay as a permanent resident; reside”.  To be able to live in a close, personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the greatest thing ever.  Living in the secret place,  we are living under His shadow—the shadow of the Almighty God, the creator of the universe, the creator of you and me.  We have his protection.  There is no power or enemy that can withstand His protection of us.  When we are living in His presence, there is nothing that can come against us that is bigger than He is.

You can download this WORDart here.

~The card~

I started with white cardstock and stamped the images from Shapes by Design on the bottom third of the card.  I then used the solid circle image to fill in some of the circles using Tumbled Glass distress ink.  I printed the WORDart onto white cardstock.  After die cutting it with a square nestibilitie die, I matted it onto Hawaiian Shores cardstock die cut with the scalloped square nestie.  I cut a slit in the fold of my card to thread the black satin ribbon  through.  I tied it into a bow and and tied a Hawaiian Shores button on it using charcoal baker’s twine.  I finished it off with some black gems on the focal point.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Birthday Stars

I found this card that I made several months ago hidden away on my computer.  I made it for my son’s friend for his birthday.  It’s one of those last minute cards you make in panic mode when you realize you don’t have a card.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA I used Star Prints and the coordinating dies.  All of the paper is from Papertrey.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA On the inside, I used the Fillable Frames 11 die and coordinating stamp for the border.

I Thessalonians 5:16 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The word “rejoice” means to be glad; to take delight in.  The scripture tells us to rejoice evermore.  It is not a suggestion, it is a command.  Rejoicing is a choice we make.  I choose whether I am going to rejoice or whether I am going to find fault, be discouraged, or take pity on myself.  Jesus Christ died on the cross for me!  That in itself is worth rejoicing over.  If everything around me is falling apart and nothing seems to be going my way, I can still find joy in the fact that God loves me that much!  If I choose not to rejoice, I wonder how that makes him feel?  How would I feel if I made a huge sacrifice for my children and it did not bring them joy?  I would be crushed!  I don’t want to do that to my Lord and Savior.  He has done so much for me. I choose to rejoice!

The card~

I printed the WORDart onto white cardstock.  I used the classic circle nestibilities dies to cut circles from designer paper that had the raspberry fizz color (all from Papertrey).  I also embossed each circle and adhered them to my card.  I then used my new button dies to cut white cardstock and chipboard.  I stamped the white cardstock with the stamps from Bitty Background Blocks in raspberry fizz ink. I ran the cardstock through my little Xyron Create-a-sticker and then stuck it to the chipboard.  I tied the buttons with Pink Sorbet twine.   I got a new gadget, the i-rock crystal heat setting tool,  a couple of weeks ago and tried it out on this card.  That thing is great, but I discovered that it doesn’t take too long to adhere the crystals.  If you look closely on my card, you will see where the glue came oozing out.  Oops!  I really like not having to worry about my gems falling off though.  These little guys are not going anywhere…and they’re so sparkly.

DIY: Decorated Wooden Letters

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I was asked to make some letters for a baby gift.  I made these letters to coordinate with the nursery bedding.  I LOVE the way they turned out and thought I would share with you how I did it and what worked for me.

~DIY Instructions~

1. Lightly sand the letters on both the front and the back.  Make sure to wipe all of the dust off the letters.  Paint the letters, let dry.  Paint a second coat.  Let dry completely.  I let mine dry overnight.

2. Stamp the flourishes.  I used Vintage Cream ink and it took a VERY long time to dry.  I heat dried it and it still smudged a little so I used Workable Fixative spray and that worked well.  Spray with 2-3 coats of sealer following the directions on the can.  Let dry completely.

3. Make the ribbon bow hangers.  Cut a 10 inch length of ribbon and staple evenly to the back of the letter using a staple gun.  Cut a 7 inch length of ribbon.  Place about a 1/2 inch piece of Scor-tape in the center and loop the ribbon ends to adhere in the center.  Cut another piece of ribbon about 7 inches and tie the loop bow to the hanger making a knot in the back.  This will adhere the bow to the ribbon hanger so that it can slide easily for adjustment. Trim the ends evenly.

4. Make the butterflies.  Large butterflies- Stamp the image onto vellum using ink that matches your cardstock.  Heat emboss using clear embossing powder.  Punch out the image with the butterfly punch.  Punch out another butterfly from the matching cardstock.  Bend the wings towards the center.  Adhere the vellum to the cardstock by placing a small amount of clear drying glue to the center.  Small butterflies- Punch out the butterfly from cardstock.  Cover the butterfly with adhesive and dip in glitter.  Bend the wings of the butterflies toward the center. Adhere the butterflies to the letter by painting E-6000 glue onto just the center of the butterflies.  Let dry completely.

~Supplies I used~

Wooden letters (Michael’s), Krylon Fusion spray paint in Expresso, Fancy Flourishes stamp set(Papertrey Ink), Vintage Cream ink , Krylon Workable Fixative, Krylon Satin sealer, Hibiscus Burst grosgrain ribbon, Hibiscus Burst ink and cardstock, butterfly stamp (Purple Daisy Designs), transcendence embossing powder,  large butterfly punch(EK Success), monarch butterfly punch (Martha Stewart), vellum, Scor-tape, Scotch clear glue (to adhere the vellum), Martha Stewart glue pen (to adhere the glitter), E-6000 glue (to adhere the  butterflies), staple gun

Psalm 34:1 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sometimes the valley seems too deep and the problems just too overwhelming, but I have found that when I bless His name and praise Him it makes it so much easier.  Does the situation change? No, but my perspective does.  I begin to feel joy, and love, and peace that is bigger than my circumstance.  I feel that confidence that God is with me and I am not facing this alone.  He is so much bigger and wiser than I will ever be and He is in control.  My days seem to go so much smoother when I take the time and make a conscious effort to bless Him and praise Him throughout my day.  God is so good to me, I could never praise Him enough!

You can download this WORDart here.

For the card~

I printed the WORDart onto vellum and then added some 1/4 inch score-tape to the top and bottom.  I then added black micro beads.  They stick really well to score-tape!  I used some super fine glitter to fill in the empty places that didn’t get completely filled with the black beads.  I stamped the red cardstock with the sheet music stamp using Versamark and embossed it with white embossing powder and adhered it to my card front.  I then adhered the vellum to the card using 1/8 inch score-tape behind the black bead strips.

Supplies~

Stamps- WORDart by Karen, Background Basics: Sheet Music (Papertrey)

Paper- White, Pure Poppy, Vellum

Ink- Versamark

Other- Filigree white embossing powder, 1/4 & 1/8 inch score-tape, black micro beads, prisma glitter

Have a blessed day!
