Christmas Tree Die Birthday Card

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My husband’s birthday was this past Saturday.  I planned a surprise getaway for us to the Inner Harbor in Baltimore without the kids and I am so excited that I managed to pull it off.  He was completely speechless when he found out the plan.  He thought we were going to his twin brother’s house for a surprise party for his brother Friday evening when the plan was to drop off the kids for the weekend.  His brother and wife took us out to eat first at a really great restaurant  called FoGo de Chao.  I was so full when we walked out of there!  We had a wonderful weekend together.  It is not often that just the two of us can get away.  We spent the weekend doing all the things we don’t like doing with the kids, like eating at restaurants we would rather not take them and hanging our for hours in the bookstore.  I made sure to have my camera, but forgot to take pictures…so sad and so like me.  I am so grateful to my sister-in-law and brother-in-law for making it possible for us.  I definitely owe them big time!

I was just dying to use my new Christmas tree dies from Papertrey, so I decided to make my husband’s birthday card with them.  I started with Spring Rain cardstock that I embossed with the linen impression plate.  I then sponged Fresh Snow ink on the edges.  I cut the Christmas trees from Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado cardstock then ran them through my Cuttlebug on the canvas side of the impression plate.  I sponged some Shabby Shutters and Peeled Paint distress ink all over them and especially onto the edges.  I thought they still needed a little something so I sprayed them with some Bamboo Leaf  Shimmerz Spritz and I love the way they turned out.  To add dimension, I glued the left tree flat to the paper, adhered the right tree with one layer of foam tape and the front tree with two layers.  For the “grass”,  I just ripped a piece of Spring Moss cardstock and distressed it with the same ink I used on the trees.  I stamped the sentiment with Peeled Paint ink and added some Spring Rain buttons.  The large button is tied with Rustic Cream twine that I colored with a YG97 Copic marker to match.  The cloud was cut with the Cloud die and stamped with dots from Polka Dot Basics in Spring Rain ink and covered with Twinklets glitter.

I haven’t had this much fun making a card in a long time, it was a total blast!

Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog today!

Hebrews 4:16 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I am so grateful that God is a God of mercy and grace and that we can boldly come before Him with our needs!

I printed the WORDart directly onto my kraft cardstock base.  I stamped the leaves from Turning a New Leaf with True Black ink and added the gemstones.  I then added a little bit of Pure Poppy grosgrain ribbon and topped it with a true black button tied with licorice Divine Twine.  I finished off the card by rounding the top left and bottom right corners.

You can download the WORDart HERE if you would like to use it.

Have a blessed day!

Owl Celebration

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

For this masculine birthday card, I inked the argyle impression plate up with Versamark ink and then embossed the kraft cardstock.  I then die cut some rustic cream cardstock using the tag sale 1 die and stamped the leaves onto it using Simply Chartreuse ink.  I die cut the ticket border and the spiral notebook page from Simply Chartreuse cardstock and stamped the Woodgrain background onto them in Versamark.  I then stamped the ticket border, sentiment and diamonds in Burnt Umber.  The owl is stamped onto Fine Linen with Burnt Umber ink and hand cut.  I then finished off the card by wrapping some brown twine around the tag and adhering the Simply Chartreuse button tied with the same brown twine.  The owl is adhered with foam tape to give it some dimension.

Psalm 103:1 WORDart

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It is my desire to bless the Lord in all that I do.  With everything that is within me I want to bless His name.  I am so thankful that I know His name is Jesus and that when I call on His name He hears me whether it is to bless Him or to cry out in need.  He is always there for me.

This card was inspired by a tote bag that I saw someone carrying.  It had these exact colors and a damask design and I just knew what my next card would look like.  Don’t you just love it when something inspires you and it makes card designing easy?

I changed the WORDart to brown and printed it onto Vintage Cream cardstock.  I then die cut the Aqua Mist cardstock with the Fillable Frames 4 die to frame the WORDart.  I stamped the damask design using Damask Designs in Burnt Umber and Vintage Cream.  I then embossed the Vintage Cream damask with Seafoam White embossing powder and added a little clear rhinestone.  I adhered the Aqua Mist cardstock with foam tape to give it some dimension.

The WORDart can be downloaded HERE

I would love to have some feedback on my WORDart.  It is such a blessing to me to hear that you are using it and it makes my heart soar to get a link to your creations!!!  You have no idea how much that means to me.  Thank you so much for taking the time to share with me.

Have a blessed day!

A Delightful Dahlia Birthday

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

A quick post to share this card with you today.  I started with kraft cardstock that I used the book print impression plate on to add texture.  I then stamped the library card with Antique Linen distress ink onto vintage cream cardstock that I cut with the library card die.  The edges were distressed using the Antique Linen distress ink and the sentiment was stamped in Hawaiian Shores ink.  I wrapped the baker’s twine around the card and tied it to a Hawaiian Shores button.  The flowers and leaves are from the Delightful Dahlia set stamped with Versamark onto Hawaiian Shores and New Leaf cardstock cut with the coordinating dies.  I added some glitter to the center to add just a little bit of bling to the card.

All supplies (except the green apple Divine Twine, Versamark and Antique Linen distress ink) are from Papertrey.

Have a blessed day!

Philippians 4:8 WORDart

I am finally back with some new WORDart.  I wanted to do something different than a card with this verse, so I pulled out this $1 frame that I purchased at Michael’s ages ago.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I spray painted the wood with Krylon Brushed Metallic spray paint in Champagne then modpodged the paper onto the front.  After changing the color of the WORDart to match my paper, I printed it onto vellum and placed a coordinating piece of paper behind it.

I am SO proud of the flower I made using a tutorial I came across on YouTube.  I made the leaves using the same concept.  I had so much fun making them and I am so excited about the way they turned out. I thought I saved the link to share with you but I can’t find it.  If I can find it again, I will edit this post.

Here is a close-up view.

As always the WORDart is available for free.  You can download it HERE.

A Robot Birthday

Monday my son turned 14 years old!  Time goes so fast.  This is the card I made for him.  I used the stamp set Robots from The Angel Company and colored it with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol.  The background was made the the solid outline stamp from “A Little Argyle” stamped in Spring Rain. I overlapped the edges just a bit and used a silver metallic Sharpie marker to make a dot where the lines connected.

Here is the inside using another robot from the same set also colored with prismacolors. The sentiments are from the set as well.

I have been working on some new WORDart and hope to have it ready for next Tuesday and be back on my old blogging schedule.  It’s so nice to be back in a routine.  I feel like I am finally getting things accomplished.  Such a nice feeling!

Have a blessed day!
